Algo de lo que aparece sobre estas:
All Maitrakas drachms were issued in the name of the kingdom's founder, Bhattaraka. This coin is
struck on a smaller flan, but still in good silver and with neatly engraved legends. Towards the middle
of the 5th century the Gupta Empire started to decline. Senapati Bhatarka, the Maitrak general of the
Guptas, took advantage of the situation.
In 470 AD, he laid the foundation of his kingdom of Valabhi and it came to be known as the Maitrak
kingdom. He shifted his capital from Girinager to Valabhipur, near Bhavnagar, on Saurashtra's east
coast. The Maitrakas of Valabhi became very powerful and their law prevailed over large parts of
Gujarat and even over adjoining Malwa.
